EVCAI Presents United Industry Voice to Oireachtas Transport Committee on Urgent Need to Accelerate EV Charging Infrastructure

The Electric Vehicle Charging Alliance of Ireland (EVCAI) today, Wednesday 26th November 2025,  set out the immediate actions required to accelerate the delivery of Ireland’s EV charging network during an appearance before the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport.

Representing EVCAI, spokesperson Darren Kinsella and Hugh Hall (ePower) outlined the operational challenges currently slowing the rollout of public charging infrastructure. These include extended grid connection timelines, slow delivery at site level, and the scale of investment needed to meet Ireland’s binding 2030 climate targets.

EVCAI member EZO also presented separately to the Committee, reinforcing the sector’s shared view that Ireland now requires stronger alignment between policy, regulation and practical infrastructure delivery. All industry representatives highlighted the need for more timely and predictable grid access, clearer planning pathways, and targeted investment to support regional and rural coverage.

Speaking after the session, EVCAI noted the importance of presenting a unified industry voice to policymakers at a critical point in Ireland’s transition to zero-emission transport. The Alliance emphasised that coordinated engagement between operators, legislators and Government agencies is essential to ensuring the national charging network can expand at the speed required.
